Newton was spotted in a walking boot after Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots. He suffered the ankle sprain after being sacked by Adam Butler. Newton appears to have avoided a major injury and will undergo an MRI Friday. His status for the regular season should be more clear after the MRI. Newton is considered day-to-day.
