Ezekiel Elliott camp negotiating late into evening; deal imminent

by Garett Thomas | Patriots Correspondent | Fri, Aug 23rd 10:12am EDT

Ezekiel Elliott and the Dallas Cowboys were up late into Thursday evening negotiating a deal that could make Elliot the second highest paid running back in the NFL, according to Jonathan Shipmen. Further, there is news that Elliot is on his way back from Cabo on Saturday and a deal could happen over the weekend. (Kevin Turner on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Elliott is obviously a top four pick if his hold out will not carry into the regular season. This has been a very public contract negotiation with some back-and-forth between both camps, but with this information - along with the updates from Thursday - it may be worth presuming a deal is going to get done before week one. Thursday on ESPN's Wake Up, it was announced that a deal with Zeke was going to happen before week one, according to their sources. Ed Werder of ESPN then followed up that same day stating his sources told him Zeke was offered to become 'the second highest paid running back in the NFL.' To me, Zeke is a lock in all drafts now, but that does not come without risk because until he signs, he could potentially continue his hold out into the regular season.
