Blank elaborated, “I’d be surprised and disappointed if we didn’t get it done this week. ... I think it’s very reasonable to assume it will get done this week.” Jones has been persistent about a contract extension this offseason, though -- unlike some of his peers -- he has not missed practice or games in an attempt to hold out. It makes sense to get the deal done before the season kicks off Thursday night, and Jones is likely in line to become the highest-paid receiver in NFL history.
