Sam Darnold has offseason thumb surgery

by Rob Ingalsbe | Vikings Correspondent | Fri, Jan 10th 3:52pm EST

Sam Darnold underwent a procedure Tuesday to repair a ligament in his left thumb, according to sources. The procedure was performed by the Jets team doctors, and he is not expected to miss any time this offseason, sources said. (NY Post)

Fantasy Impact:

Sam Darnold had a lot to overcome during his sophmore season. Playing behind one of the leagues absolute worst offensive lines (ranked 30th overall according to football outsiders) and in a new offensive system under HC Adam Gase. Darnold played much better in the final two months of the season after struggling for a stretch in October when he returned from mono. The decision on resigning UFA Robby Anderson and possibility that GM Joe Douglas decides to move on from Le'veon Bell will have a major impact on Darnold's 2020 outlook.
