With the release of Phillip Rivers and Tom Brady signing with Tampa Bay, the Chargers are expected to move forward with Tyrod Taylor for 2020. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

It's been a few years since Taylor has had a starting gig, but he'll be happy with the pieces in the Chargers' offense assuming he retains the reins as a starter through camp. With Austin Ekeler, Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Hunter Henry all coming back next season, expect to see big numbers from Taylor. Although he's been in the league nine years, Taylor has never started a full 16-game season. Over his three years as the starter in Buffalo he went 22-20 with 8,857 yards, 51 touchdowns, 16 interceptions, and a 62.6% completion percentage. After that he spent a season in Cleveland behind Baker Mayfield and last season in Los Angeles behind Rivers. There will be a lot of uncertainty and speculation as to where Taylor will drop in fantasy drafts this season given his couple of years as a backup, but seeing that Rivers had 591 pass attempts last year (seventh in the league) expect Taylor to get a lot of volume as a passer in a loaded offense and churn out low-end QB1 numbers.
