Rashaad Penny ‘likely’ to start season on the PUP list due to ACL injury

According to Seahawks GM John Schneider, RB Rashaad Penny could start the season on the PUP list as he recovers from a torn ACL he suffered on December 8, 2019. (Bob Condotta on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

It normally takes 9-10 months to fully recover from a torn ACL, and Penny is only 5 months removed from the injury. Schneider reiterated, “he’s doing great but it was a late-season injury.” He went on to state that RB Chris Carson is doing great in his recovery from his own injury, and that he will be ready for the start of the season. From a fantasy perspective, it looks like Carson will be the workhorse back early on in what is one of the most run-heavy offenses in the league. Even with the addition of RB DeeJay Dallas, consider Carson a borderline RB1 if Penny remains on the shelf. Carson is currently ranked #16 in FantasyPros consensus RB rankings, while Penny is ranked #54 and remains a top handcuff option.
