Antonio Gibson compared to Christian McCaffrey by head coach

by Matthew Judd | Patriots Correspondent | Tue, May 5th 9:56am EDT

When asked to speak about his third round selection Antonio Gibson, Redskins head coach Ron Rivera remarked that Gibson and Christian McCaffrey have a "similar skillset". Rivera selected McCaffrey with the eight overall selection in 2017, and coached him for two and a half seasons in Carolina before he was relieved of his duties. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

The Redskins backfield is one of the more muddied entering the 2020 season. Adrian Peterson (who will be 35 this season) lead the team with 211 carries in 2020, while 2018 second round selection Derrius Guice missed most of his second season with multiple injuries. In his rookie season fourth round selection Bryce Love missed his entire rookie season. In the offseason the Redskins added Peyton Barber and J.D. McKissic. The uncertainty at the running back position could provide Gibson ample opportunity to seize a larger number of snaps than he might otherwise expect on a different team. On the flip side of the coin, perhaps he gets lost in the shuffle, and is just one cog in a much larger wheel.
