It was originally reported that the 28-year old was willing to sit out the season, but now reports are that he’d even consider retirement as an option. Freeman signed a five-year, $40M deal with Atlanta in 2017, and the six-year veteran has made an average of $8M per year on that contract. He’s probably still got more left in the tank, but at 28 years old, Freeman will he hard-pressed to get a team to commit that kind of money to him. He’s more likely to see a one or two-year deal at $4M per year or even less. It was reported that both the Eagles and the Jets had interest in signing the veteran running back.
