The Patriots have signed QB Cam Newton to a one-year incentive-laden deal. The contract is worth up to $7.5 million. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Newton was released by the Panthers in March and now finds a landing spot with the Patriots. He will compete with Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer for the starting QB job. Newton is the favorite to enter the season as the starter and will look to rebound after an injury-plagued 2019. It was reported earlier this off-season that he passed his physical, and both his “foot and shoulder” checked out well. Newton threw for threw 572 yards across two games for the Panthers last season. Cam is a high-upside QB2 in fantasy and currently 37th among all quarterbacks in the latest expert consensus rankings, but expect that number to rise with the latest news.
