Newton signed a one-year, $7.5 million contract with the Patriots on Sunday and is the heavy favorite to be New England’s starting QB for the 2020 season. He will join Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham on the QB depth chart. “Newton wasn’t guaranteed the Patriots’ starting job,” per Howe. “The best quarterback in camp will take over Tom Brady’s perch.” It was also reported that Newton’s signing had “nothing to do with Stidham’s performance.” As long he’s healthy, expect Newton to win the starting job and prove that he still has what it takes to be one of top quarterbacks in the NFL. Cam is a high-upside QB2 in fantasy, and is currently 18th among all quarterbacks in the latest expert consensus rankings.
