According to multiple sources, Washington G Brandon Scherff, who has signed his franchise tag worth $15M, will have to wait until after this season to sign a long-term contract extension. (John Keim on Twitter)

The deadline to sign players on the franchise tag to an extension is rapidly approaching and there hasn’t been much movement on extending Scherff. The three-time Pro Bowler is considered one of the best offensive guards in the NFL and will likely be a cornerstone of the Washington offensive line for a long time.
