Fantasy Impact:

McKinnon has missed the last two seasons due to knee injuries. His comeback is drawing rave reviews and has looked sharp during camp. “Even just throwing routes on air this offseason, he runs them differently than most running backs and he has a feel that’s like a receiver, but he feels space like a quarterback,” said 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo. “It’s very unique and I’m excited to get him back, man. It’s been a while. We came in together, me and him when we both signed here, and it’s exciting to have him back.” McKinnon is competing with Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman for carries in the 49ers backfield, but his clearest path for playing time will be on passing downs. If he can stay healthy and continue to look sharp at camp, McKinnon is worth a late-round flyer in deep-league formats.
