Nick Mullens replaces the injured Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 2

by Alex Burns | Vikings Correspondent | Sun, Sep 20th 9:49pm EDT

Nick Mullens was thrust into action after Jimmy Garopplo went down with an ankle injury, completing 8-of-11 passes for 71 yards and an interception. He also rushed twice for negative two yards.

Fantasy Impact:

It sounds like there is a good chance that Garoppolo will be out for at least a month, leaving Mullens as the starting quarterback going forward. This isn't the first time the 25-year-old quarterback was thrust into action, however, as Mullens filled in admirably for the injured Garoppolo for eight games during the 2018 campaign. He should be considered a low-end QB2 in this run-heavy offense, though he would benefit greatly if George Kittle (knee) was able to return for Week 3. He could be a dart-throw streamer next week against the Giants for those that are desperate.
