Per sources filed to ESPN, free agent and former Jets RB Le’Veon Bell is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. (Adam Schefter on Instagram)
And there it is. Bell is expected to join the Chiefs in hopes of winning a championship with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. He won’t play in Week 6 against the Bills due to league protocols, but expect him to be ready to roll in Week 7 when the Chiefs travel to Denver to take on the Broncos. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who has handled a huge workload for the Chiefs in his rookie season, will likely give up a few snaps in favor of Bell, who is going to get every opportunity to show he’s still a very viable back in this league. Edwards-Helaire likely drops down to a high-end RB2 with the Bell signing, and Bell likely has solid flex appeal with obvious RB2 upside given his body of work and level of talent. Darrel Williams is likely relegated to a very limited role now that Bell is a part of the running backs room in Kansas City.
