The Miami Dolphins are naming Tua Tagovailoa their starting quarterback, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter. Ryan Fitzpatrick will back up Tagovailoa when he starts in Week 8 against the Rams. The Dolphins have a bye week in Week 7. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
Tagovailoa was the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he was also recovering from a serious hip injury during his final season at Alabama and watched veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick lead the Dolphins to a 3-3 record through the team's first six games. Tagovailoa made his debut against the Jets in mop-up duty in Week 6, and he will be a popular waiver-wire target in all formats this week given his potential.
