Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci completed 21 of his 40 pass attempts for 180 yards and rushed for 22 yards on five carries. He also lost two fumbles.
Thrust into action due to injuries to both Dak Prescott and Andy Dalton, DiNucci did not look like he was ready to start an NFL game. The Cowboys seemed to be aware of this, as well, as they came out with a creative gameplan that attempted to limit the young quarterback's responsibilities. They incorporated short pass attempts, end around runs, zone read concepts, and wildcat formations into the offense on Sunday night, but they found little success. DiNucci was inaccurate when attempting to pass the ball downfield, and he lost two fumbles because he didn't feel pressure coming while in the pocket. Dalton should return to the lineup in Week 9 against the Steelers.
