Jerick McKinnon leads 49ers' backfield on Thursday Night Football

by Alex Burns | Chiefs Correspondent | Fri, Nov 6th 9:32am EST

Jerick McKinnon rushed 12 times for 52 yards and caught 3-of-4 targets for 16 yards during the 49ers' 17-34 loss to the Packers on Thursday Night Football.

Fantasy Impact:

Many expected JaMycal Hasty to receive the bulk of carries out of the 49ers' backfield on Thursday but that was not the case. McKinnon out-touched him 16-6 and looked like the better back for the entire evening, averaging a solid 4.3 yards per carry. Those who started McKinnon have to be pleased with his garbage time touchdown that came from one-yard out with eight seconds remaining, cementing an impressive night for the 28-year-old running back. This 49ers' backfield has become increasingly difficult to project on a week-to-week basis, though McKinnon appears to be the RB1 for now. He should be viewed as an RB3 for a Week 10 matchup against the Saints.
