David Johnson can be activated for Week 13, 'hopeful' to return soon

Per Aaron Reiss with The Athletic, Texans head coach Romeo Crennel "said he’s hopeful the veteran running back can be activated soon." Johnson is eligible to be activated off of IR prior to Sunday's matchup against the Colts. (The Athletic)

Fantasy Impact:

Johnson was placed on IR after suffering a concussion in Week 9's game against the Jaguars. Although he's provided steady volume and a relatively safe floor, Johnson has failed to log more than 20 PPR points in a single outing this season. Crennel seemed to lean on the veteran running back a bit more than recently-fired Bill O'Brien did, getting him at least 19 touches in the three full games they played together. Should Johnson return, he's a high-end RB2 while teammate Duke Johnson would drop into the low RB3 tier. Whoever starts in Week 13 will have a tough matchup against a Colts team that is allowing the fourth-least points to opponents' running backs.
