Tua Tagovailoa to remain Dolphins' starter in Week 17

by Anthony Cervino | Dolphins Correspondent | Sun, Dec 27th 5:44am EST

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting Dolphins HC Brian Flores told the press that QB Tua Tagovailoa will remain the team's starting quarterback for Week 17. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Surprise. Just because Flores is sticking with Tagovailoa doesn't mean that Ryan Fitzpatrick's run is over. “If we’ve got to go to our relief pitcher in the ninth, that’s what we’ll do,” Flores said to reporters. “Fitz (Ryan Fitzpatrick), he’s always ready to go. “ Flores' remarks are suggesting that we could see quarterback pivots until the Dolphins are out of it, which could mean this could happen in postseason play. It is working now, but completely contradicts the old football adage "if you have two quarterbacks, you have none." With the game, and really, their season on the line, Flores turned to Fitzpatrick minutes into the fourth period of play. The journeyman signal-caller completed 9-of-13 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown, including a throw to Mack Hollins to set up the game-clinching field goal following a face-mask penalty. The Dolphins get the Bills in the 2020 season finale next week.
