Jared Goff underwent thumb surgery on Monday and will be replaced by newcomer John Wolford against the Cardinals in a pivotal Week 17 matchup. Bortles finds himself in a familiar role, as the former first-round draft pick spent 2019 backing up Jared Goff on the Rams roster before being cut and picked up by the Broncos this offseason. Bortles has not yet officially signed but is expected to return to his former team this week. Fantasy managers should avoid Bortles unless an unforeseen injury befalls Wolford prior to Sunday's matchup.
