Ben Roethlisberger has approached team to discuss restructuring contract

by Jon Mathisen | Thu, Jan 28th 4:48pm EST

Ben Roethlisberger wants to restructure his contract with the Steelers in order to lower his cap hit for 2021, per Steelers beat writer Ed Bouchette. (Ed Bouchette on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Roethlisberger told Bouchette that he approached the Steelers first about reworking his contract. "I want to do everything I can and made that very clear to them from the very beginning that it was my idea to basically help the team however I can this year." His comments seem to go hand in hand with Steelers owner Art Rooney II, who said earlier on Thursday that Roethlisberger would have to make "significant concessions" to his contract in order to play for the team in 2021. Big Ben's cap hit in 2021 is a whopping $41.2 million so it makes sense for both sides to come together and restructure his deal.
