Ben Roethlisberger wants to play next year, Steelers looking at situation

by Dave Kluge | Wed, Feb 17th 1:17pm EST

Aditi Kinkhabwala with the NFL Network is reporting that Ben Roethlisberger wants to play next season and General Manager Kevin Colbert said, "We told him quite frankly, we have to look at this situation.” (Aditi Kinkhabwala on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

This isn't a ringing endorsement for Roethlisberger from his General Manager. Now 38 years old and having missed playing time in five of his last six seasons, Roethlisberger's future in Pittsburgh is looking uncertain for the first time since they drafted him 11th overall in 2004. The Steelers have the 24th overall pick in this year's draft, which could potentially be used on a quarterback if they are looking to move on from Roethlisberger. Mason Rudolph and Joshua Dobbs are listed as the team's backups, but there are plenty of available quarterbacks on the trading block and in free agency. While nothing is certain at this point, the Steelers' quarterback situation should be monitored as we approach free agency on March 17th.
