Amidst salary cap issues affecting the Saints' front office, general manager Mickey Loomis opted to use the franchise tag on S Marcus Williams for the 2021 season. The fourth-year safety was drafted by the Saints in the second round of the 2017 draft and will continue to play under head coach Sean Payton. Williams totaled 59 tackles, three interceptions, and seven pass deflections for the Saints during the 2020 regular season.
