Cam Newton reportedly re-signs with Patriots for one year and $14 milllion

Jim McBride of the Boston Globe reports the Patriots are re-signing quarterback Cam Newton to a one-year contract. (Jim McBride on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

ESPN's Adam Schefter has since confirmed the report, and he adds that this move doesn't preclude the team from adding another quarterback in the coming weeks. It’s a one-year, $14 million deal. That certainly isn’t backup money. Newton certainly wasn't great in his first season in New England in 2020, but he dealt with a weak supporting cast and a midseason COVID-19 diagnosis. We'll have to see what else the Patriots do to address the quarterback position this offseason, but bringing back Cam at least locks in an option heading into free agency.
