Mitchell Trubisky: 'The ship has sailed' and Bears plan to move on

by Dave Kluge | Bills Correspondent | Sun, Mar 14th 1:11pm EDT

Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler with ESPN are reporting that the Bears plan to move on from Mitchell Trubisky this offseason and will look to address their quarterback situation through a trade or free agency.

Fantasy Impact:

The Bears selected Trubisky with the second overall pick in 2017 and he's gone 29-21 as a starter with an additional 0-2 playoff record. Famously selected ahead of Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes II, Trubisky has failed to live up to his draft stock. The Bears declined to pick up his fifth-year rookie option last offseason and it was reported that his future in Chicago was contingent on a 2020 playoff run. Considering their first-round loss to the Saints, this doesn't come as a huge shock. Trubisky showed some flashes as a playmaker with an innate ability to throw on the run, but his struggles to read defenses and a knack for missing routine throws caused a lot of frustration in Chicago. The Bears will have multiple avenues to choose in their pursuit for a new quarterback through the draft, free agency, or a trade.
