The Vikings will not be tendering running back Mike Boone. He becomes an unrestricted free agent and is free to sign with any team when the new league year begins on Wednesday. (Chris Tomasson on Twitter)
Boone, 25, spent the past three years in a depth role with the Vikings. Through 40 games (two starts), he amassed 71 carries for 379 yards and four touchdowns. Ultimately pushed to an RB3 role with Minnesota due to Alexander Mattison's presence, Boone could be a popular target in free agency for teams in search of an affordable backup option.
