Matt Stafford is now a Ram as trade becomes official

The Rams’ blockbuster trade to acquire QB Matthew Stafford from the Lions is now official as per ESPN's Adam Schefter. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Stafford was the first QB domino to fall back in late January, when the Rams agreed to part with former No. 1 overall pick QB Jared Goff, two first-round picks (2022 and 2023), plus a third-round pick in 2021. The excessive compensation was due in part to Goff’s massive contract that the Lions would be absorbing. Now HC Sean McVay has his man and hopes to turn back the clock to 2018 when the Rams offense was lighting up the scoreboard. The move seems right for Stafford, who was looking to move on after trying to rebuild a miserable Lions team for his entire career. The McVay/Stafford pairing is a perfect fit: one a strong-armed, tough-as-nails gunslinger, the other an offensive genius held back by mediocre QB play. Stafford should be considered a low-end QB1 with upside in McVay’s offense in 2021.
