Deshaun Watson: NFL confirms personal conduct policy investigation

by Mike Maher | Browns Correspondent | Thu, Mar 18th 5:51pm EDT

Amidst multiple civil suits being filed against Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, the NFL has confirmed that the matter is under review under the personal conduct policy, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. Three civil lawsuits have been filed against Watson this week, with the latest accusing the quarterback of sexually assaulting a massage therapist. The lawsuit was filed by Houston attorney Tony Buzbee, who says that there are nine total cases against Watson despite only three being filed so far. Watson responded on Twitter on Tuesday night and called the claims "baseless" while revealing that he recently rejected a six-figure settlement demand. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

The NFL promptly investigates any allegations of misconduct under their personal conduct policy, so it should come as no surprise that they are looking into this situation. While Watson has not been charged with a crime, it is worth noting that the NFL reserves the right to impose punishment under this policy even if no charges are filed. In 2017, Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott was suspended for six games after the league investigated domestic violence allegations against Elliott even though no charges were ever filed. Watson has been open about his desire for the Houston Texans to trade him this offseason, but these allegations complicate any trade discussions considerably.
