Jimmy Garoppolo: Patriots reportedly not expected to trade for the QB

by Brad Camara | Rams Correspondent | Thu, Apr 29th 7:37pm EDT

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting that the Patriots are not expected to trade for QB Jimmy Garoppolo. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

“If the two sides could even come to terms (a big if), it would take a complex contract negotiation to get it done, ” said Rapoport. The Patriots don't have the room to fit Garoppolo’s current contract. Several teams reportedly contacted the 49ers about the availability of Garoppolo, but the chances of a deal are slim. It remains to be seen if Jimmy G will be dealt, but a reunion with the Patriots seems unlikely. The 49ers acquired the No. 3 pick of the 2021 NFL Draft and will most likely select a quarterback. Mac Jones, Justin Fields, or Trey Lance have been linked to San Francisco. Garoppolo completed 67.1 percent of his passes for 1,096 yards, seven touchdowns, and five interceptions across six games for the 49ers in 2020. Stay tuned.
