Tom Pelissero is reporting that Chris Godwin and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that there is "nothing imminent on that front" regarding long-term contract discussions. (Tom Pelissero on NFL.com)

Fantasy Impact:

After signing a four-year deal as a rookie, Godwin will head into his Year 5 campaign playing under a franchise tag worth $15.9M. The Buccaneers are running it back after a Super Bowl win, bringing back every offensive player to go along with a 43-year-old Tom Brady. There is a lot of speculation concerning how much Brady has left in the tank, and the Bucs' eyes seem to be set solely on 2021 at the moment. If the team cannot reach an agreement with Godwin by July 15th, he will hit the 2022 offseason as an unrestricted free agent. Godwin is a crisp route runner with sure hands and a lot of technical skills, despite his non-elite athleticism. He broke out in 2019 with 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns but had a down 2020 season while dealing with a finger injury. Just 25 years old, he will draw a lot of attention on the free agent market after this season if this report turns out to be true.
