Taylor Heinicke outplaying Ryan Fitzpatrick during minicamp

Let's not get too carried away with the Ryan Fitzpatrick hype just yet. According to JP Finlay of NBC Sports, fellow quarterback Taylor Heinicke "had himself a damn good minicamp" and has "looked better than Ryan Fitzpatrick" so far. (NBC Sports)
Fantasy Impact:
Finlay made it clear that Heinicke was going up against a defense featuring backups and a few starters while Fitzpatrick opposed a group of all starters. The former also impressed during a portion of camp that prohibits the defense from laying a hand on the quarterback, so Heinicke wasn't wearing heavy equipment and didn't have to deal with excessive pressure. Still, this is a storyline worth following. It appears that the position battle remains wide open with less than two months to go until the 2021 NFL season kicks off. In the latest expert consensus draft rankings, Fitzpatrick checks in at No. 18 while Heinicke ranks 43rd.
