In a surprising move, the Patriots released QB Cam Newton on Tuesday. Rookie Mac Jones is set to become the Patriots' starting quarterback in 2021. The Patriots will roll with Jones and Brian Hoyer as their top quarterbacks this season. Newton signed a one-year, $1.5 million base salary deal with New England in March. The deal included a $2 million signing bonus. Newton rushed for 592 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Patriots in 2020. The 32-year-old will look to latch onto another team and compete for a backup job. Stay tuned.
