Za'Darius Smith headed to the short-term IR

Smith is expected to be placed on the short-term injured reserve with a back injury. He has been dealing with a back issue since training camp. “Gonna have to shut him down for a while,” said Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. “Why not try to get him healthy as possible so we can have him more readily available.” This is a big blow to the Packers' defense as the 29-year-old is considered the team’s best pass rusher. Smith racked up 12.5 sacks in 2020. The All-Pro is eligible to return from the IR Week 5 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
