Davis Mills playing for starting job in 2022

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting Texans QB Davis Mills' rest of season performance will help determine the fate of the team's 2022 starting quarterback as well as their direction in the 2022 NFL Draft. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
It really is simple. If Mills plays well for the rest of the year -- five games -- the Texans will likely target a pass-rusher -- Michigan's Aiden Hutchinson or Oregon's Kayvon Thibodeaux -- with their presumed top-three pick in April's draft. If Mills falters, then the Texans will either have to draft a quarterback of the future or bring one in via the anticipated Deshaun Watson trade. While Mills has played well enough to out-seat perennial journeyman QB Tyrod Taylor in 2021, he will have to really impress to take a stranglehold on the starting spot for 2022. Or not, actually, because we are talking about the Texans here. Mediocrity just might be enough.
