Green Bay defense holds 49ers to 13 points but doomed by special teams play

The Green Bay defense largely held the 49ers in check all game collecting four sacks and an interception but were doomed by poor special teams play as the Packers lost 13-10 in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Fantasy Impact:

It's tough to ask for much more than what the Packers defense provided on Saturday vs the 49ers but football is a game of three phases. And unfortunately for the Packers their special teams failed to show up and will largely be blamed for this playoff loss. Due to special teams miscues the 49ers blocked a Green Bay field goal and most importantly blocked a punt that was returned for a TD late in the game. As the game was concluding the Green Bay defense simply could not prevent the 49ers from getting in field goal range to set up their game winning field goal which put an early end to yet another very promising season for the Packers.
