Matt Ryan being traded to Colts

by Mike Maher | Mon, Mar 21st 1:49pm EDT

According to multiple reports, the Atlanta Falcons are trading quarterback Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2022 third-round pick. The Falcons will incur a $40.525 million dead cap charge in 2022—the largest in NFL history—due to the trade. (Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Word came out earlier this morning that the Colts were the likely landing spot for Ryan if he did end up getting traded. Apparently, a deal came together quickly. The Atlanta offense will look drastically different in 2022 with Calvin Ridley suspended for the entire season and Ryan moving on to Indianapolis. Early reports indicate that the Falcons are targeting Marcus Mariota, who was with Atlanta head coach Arthur Smith in Tennessee, for their quarterback vacancy. For the Colts, they trade for a new quarterback for the second offseason in a row and will likely look to upgrade some of their other offensive weapons in the coming weeks.
