Geno Smith returning to Seahawks?

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll wants Geno Smith back with the team next season. "I'd like to get Geno hooked up and get him back," Carroll said. "He showed us a good deal of command of our offense when he played last year and he has a terrific understanding of it so he's out in front of the other guys [in the QB competeiton]." With a departing Russell Wilson and Drew Lock as de facto QB1, a Geno Smith return to Seattle gives the eight-year pro a fighting chance to start [for now]. Smith totaled a 1-2 record last season in relief for an injured Wilson. He threw for 702 yards, totaled a 68.4% completion percentage, and posted a 5:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. That said, the Seahawks hold the ninth pick in this year's NFL Draft, while vet bridge options such as Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo are available via trade.
