Feleipe Franks shifts to hybrid role

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Feleipe Franks has transitioned into a hybrid role in the offense, according to head coach Arthur Smith. Franks, who filled in on special teams last season, has received reps at tight end during practice. (AJC.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Checking in at 6-foot-7 and 235 pounds, Franks is a talented athlete but went undrafted in 2021. His lone pass attempt last season was picked off. Smith noted that while both Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ridder have impressed under center, Franks still has a role in the quarterbacks' meeting room. "He’s a valuable football player for us," explained the second-year head coach. "He’ll take some reps at quarterback. Put Feleipe in that hybrid category." The Falcons currently have budding star Kyle Pitts at tight end, followed by Anthony Firkser in a backup role. Even if Franks does see the field as a tight end in 2022, it's hard to envision a path to fantasy relevance.
