Dontrell Hilliard impressing at Titans minicamp

by Sam Ryner | Sun, Jun 19th 12:10am EDT

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessee Titans’ official website reports that RB Dontrell Hilliard has impressed while carrying a heavy workload in minicamp as he competes with rookie RB Hassan Haskins for the primary backup role behind Derrick Henry. (Jim Wyatt, Tennessee Titans Official Website)

Fantasy Impact:

According to Wyatt, Hilliard was on the receiving end of two Ryan Tannehill touchdown passes during a minicamp practice earlier this week and has been heavily involved in the offense in practice. Superstar RB Derrick Henry will be the unquestioned workhorse RB for the Titans in 2022, but the primary backup RB role for the team could ultimately be a valuable one for fantasy managers as Henry enters his age 28 season and is coming off of the first major injury of his career. The Titans have been a run-first offense during Mike Vrabel’s tenure as the team's head coach, and the team stayed true to their ground and pound identity even after losing Henry for the final nine games of 2021. Hilliard impressed in limited opportunity last season, having averaged an outstanding 6.3 yards per attempt and he rushed for 131 yards in the only game he was given over ten carries. If Hilliard can beat out Haskins, he may be a wise late-round dart throw in best ball formats in the event that Henry was to miss time again in 2022.
