WR Jameson Williams, a first-round pick by the Detroit Lions, was placed on the non-football injury list the day after Lions rookies reported to training camp. (Tim Twentyman, detroitlions.com)
Fantasy Impact:
This news comes as a surprise, not because Williams is missing training camp, but because of the designation. The former Alabama wideout tore his ACL in the national championship game last season and was expected to miss training camp and presumably a chunk of the season. However, he was placed on the non-football injury list, not the physically unable to perform list because he suffered his injury in college, according to Twentyman. Williams is currently going as the WR61 in PPR formats, according to FantasyPros, but he may not see much fantasy relevance in his rookie season due to his injury.
