Roquan Smith holding out of training camp

Chicago Bears LB Roquan Smith will not be participating in training camp, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, as he continues to seek out a new contract. (Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Roquan Smith has quickly become one of the league’s most statistically productive linebackers, putting up 163 tackles, three sacks and 12 tackles for loss in 2021 en route to his second All-Pro nod. According to FantasyPros’ expert consensus rankings, Smith is the No. 1 player on the IDP rankings and the Bears’ DST ranks as DST23. Both of these rankings will surely drop as talks continue to stall out. Rapoport reports that figures between the two parties aren’t “remotely” close, so the situation needs to be monitored closely.
