Tyrod Taylor likely to see some first-team snaps in preseason games

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said quarterback Tyrod Taylor will likely see some first-team reps in preseason game going forward but reiterated Daniel Jones is the starter reported by ESPN’s Jordan Raanan. (Jordan Raanan on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Daboll reportedly went “out of his way to say he has 100% confidence in starter Daniel Jones” even after saying Taylor will probably see some first-team snaps at some point in the preseason. He also said any of Taylor’s first snaps are “absolutely not” a reflection on Jones’ play. Despite the statements to the contrary, it is hard to see increased first-team snaps for Taylor as anything other than an indictment of Jones’ play. Jones has hardly been a solid enough NFL quarterback (playing in a new offense, mind you) to warrant him not taking as many reps with the first team, as possible. It also seems unlikely that the Giants would be giving Taylor the reps if they weren’t trying to get him comfortable with the starting offense and prepare him for regular season playing time should Jones’ play warrant the switch. At this point, it is best for fantasy managers to avoid either quarterback on draft day in anything other than 14-team or two-QB leagues.
