The accuser in Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson's recent lawsuit, which alleges sexual assault and battery for an Oct. 2020 incident, intends to interview with the NFL's offices in two weeks and has "pertinent" video to share, says her attorney Tony Buzbee to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. (Mary Kay Cabot, cleveland.com)
Fantasy Impact:
Buzbee says his client, the plaintiff, will meet with the league offices in two weeks after he concludes duties for another case he is handling. In addition to his client, "two individuals who spoke to her immediately after the assault" will meet with the offices, says Buzbee. His accuser, known as Jane Doe in the civil suit, is seeking $1 million in damages, says Cabot. Watson has denied the allegations, and the league is investigating the situation on their own, led by Lisa Fried, NFL Special Counsel for Investigations, who also led Watson's previous investigation, per Cabot. As well, Cabot reports "the NFL will try to determine if this is different and egregious enough to warrant further punishment" beyond his previous fine, mandated treatment and suspension from what was deemed as "sexual assault and misconduct" stemming from previous lawsuits Watson faced.
