Drew Brees, Saints haven't talked long-term extension in months

It appears that the New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees haven't had discussions on a new deal for the veteran signal caller in months. ESPN's Mike Triplett is reporting that the Saints haven't spoken to Brees about a contract since approaching him about restructuring his current agreement in order to make cap room to sign Josh Norman earlier in the offseason. Drew Brees and the New Orleans Sants appear to be in a quandary in regards to a new deal for the veteran passer. Reports suggest that there is a non-official deadline set for the sides to come to terms on a contract that falls at the start of the regular season on September 11. Brees told the media that he would not take part in contract negotiations during the season and would reach the open free agent market this offseason they don't come to terms on an agreement.
