Theo Riddick deemed an 'elite' receiver out of the backfield

Justin Rogers of MLive.com believes that Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick is a "below-average runner," but an "elite receiver out of the backfield" following his 80-reception 2015 campaign. The beat writer also suggests that "expecting significant growth as a ball carrier borders on unreasonable" for the three-year veteran running back. (MLive.com)

Fantasy Impact:

Theo Riddick appears to be a PPR goldmine at the running back position in Detroit. Riddick is coming off of a magnificent 2015 season as a receiver out of the backfield hauling in 80 targets for 697 yards and three touchdowns. Riddick has not come close to that production for the first two years of his career and 2015 could be deemed an anomaly for the young rusher. In the upcoming fantasy football campaign, consider Riddick mid-range RB3/Flex player primarily due to his minimal value as an actual rusher. Ameer Abdullah is the No. 1 back for the Lions and Riddick should only be selected as his handcuff and any production he gives outside of that should be considered a plus.
