Ezekiel Elliott shines in preseason debut

Ezekiel Elliott had seven carries for 48 yards (6.9YPC) in the Cowboys' preseason game against the Seahawks on Thursday night.

Fantasy Impact:

Some rookie RBs would tremble at the idea of going up against the mighty Seahawks defense in their first NFL start. Not 'Zeke Elliott. Elliott looked like a savvy vet on Thursday night, demonstrating decisiveness with the ball in his hands and holding his own in pass protection. But anyone who watched Thursday's game won't spend the next week talking about Elliott's speed or blocking abilities. They'll be talking about the power he demonstrated against Kam Chancellor, on two carries in particular. Two times Elliott found himself in a one-on-one situation with Chancellor—and both times Elliott lowered his shoulder and knocked Chancellor backwards. Not a bad way to gain respect in this league. Elliott proved he is not afraid to face NFL defenses, and with a few more games like Thursday night, NFL defenses will start to be afraid to face him. It's hard to expect any rookie RB to return on the investment of a first round fantasy draft pick, but Elliott has the potential to do just that in 2016.
