Tony Romo could return by mid-season

by Anthony Cervino | Sat, Aug 27th 3:27pm EDT

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) "has a compressure fracture of his L1 vertebrae" and could be sidelined for 6-to-10 weeks. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

This is devastating news for the Dallas Cowboys and Romo's fantasy owners alike. The good news is the injury-prone quarterback will likely return by mid-season, however, the bad news is that the Cowboys will enter the upcoming campaign with rookie Dak Prescott under center. Prescott has been magnificent during the preseason but things could change in regular season play. Monitor this situation as the Cowboys could be in the market for a veteran backup signal caller.
