Jamaal Charles 'hasn't regained his role' as the No. 1 back in Kansas City

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told the media that pass rusher Tamba Hali (knee) is "a little furthur along" than RB Jamaal Charles (knee) is in their recovery from knee surgery, but "both of them are making progress." ESPN's Adam Teicher is reporting that both players are "behind schedule" in their respective rehabilitation processes. The beat writer later added that since his return, Charles "hasn’t regained the role" that he had as the "full-time featured back" that "he had before last season’s torn ACL." (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

With the regular season quickly approaching and perhaps the biggest weeks for fantasy football drafts of the year, this news about Charles is significant. Charles is a second-round pick in most drafts this year, but the fact that he hasn't "regained his role" as the No. 1 back in Kansas City is alarming, to say the least. If you're a Charles owner or pondering selecting him for your team, be sure to also snag Spencer Ware as his handcuff. Despite these most recent rumors, Charles should still be considered a mid-range RB1 in the upcoming fantasy football campaign.
