Eli Manning and Giants' passing game struggles in Week 7

by Nick Ritrivi | Mon, Oct 24th 9:56am EDT

Coming off of a 400+ yard performance in Week 6 against the Ravens, Eli Manning and the Giants' passing game took a huge step back in Week 7 against the Rams. Although the Giants' squeaked out a win over the Rams 17-10 in London, Manning managed just 196 yards passing with no TDs on 24 completions (37 attempts).

Fantasy Impact:

Manning's performance was particularly frustrating given the fact that Matthew Stafford threw for 270 yards and four TDs against this same Rams' defense in Week 6. Given Manning's performance in Week 6 against Baltimore, this was a prime matchup for him coming into Week 7. Whether it was jet-lag, poor play-calling or another reason, the Giants' inability to move the ball downfield against the Rams was disconcerting and a clear step-back. At least Manning did not throw an interception which would have further reduced his otherwise pedestrian fantasy numbers in Week 7. The Giants will be on bye in Week 8 and then come out of it facing the Eagles in Week 9 - a team that dominated the Vikings' offense in Week 7. Manning should be benched for the Week 9 contest unless owners have no other choice but to start him due to a number of Week 9 byes.
