Sebastian Vollmer
OL -
2024 Outlook
Sebastian Vollmer will be released by the Patriots, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports. Vollmer had a hip injury held him out for the entire 2016 season, and the veteran would have been owed $2.25 million in 2017, an amount that didn't seem worth it considering Vollmer's health issues.
Fantasy Impact
Vollmer has been one of the Patriots offensive linemen over the course of his eight-year career, starting 80 games over that time frame. However while missing this past season he was replaced by Marcus Cannon who did an outstanding job replacing Vollmer. The veteran tackle may retire but also could find work with a team needing line help.
Sebastian Vollmer (hip) will be out for the remainder of the season after beginning his 2016 campaign on the PUP list, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Vollmer's lingering hip issue will keep him sidelined and unavailable for the Patriots down the final stretch.
Fantasy Impact
This is not good news for the offensive line for the Patriots as Vollmer has been one of their top lineman and a stalwart at tackle since being drafted in 2009. Marcus Cannon has filled in this season but is not on the level as Vollmer.
Sebastian Vollmer, who is on the Patriots' preseason PUP list, continues to deal with a nagging hip injury, CSN New England reports. As a result, the Patriots' starting right tackle is a candidate to wind up on regular season PUP or even IR.
Fantasy Impact
This could be a big hit to the Patriot's offensive line if Vollmer misses the season. He has been a mainstay at right tackle having started there since 2010. The good thing about New England is they are deep and versatile and should be able to cover Vollmer while he is out and it should not effect pass coverage or run blocking a great deal.
